Panel 1 Stadt-Land-Bodenkämpfe

Tu, 4.6.24 10:00
Große Ulrichstraße 13 06108 Halle (Saale)

The panel Stadt-Land-Bodenkämpfe is a research project by filmmaker Emerson Culurgioni for the film LANDNAHME (AT). In the course of current debates on the relationship between ecology, economy and social concerns, it invites to a critical examination of the expansion of stock exchange-listed real estate companies to rural areas and land policy. Klaus Dörre's Landnahme-Theorem describes the takeover of non-capitalist areas such as public welfare, implemented through financial and legal measures, which have been expanding from urban to rural areas since the financial crisis of 2007/08. An exemplary case of land grabbing in Brandenburg illustrates a transformation of social and economic landscapes that underlines the need for new regulatory approaches. The panel takes a critical look at the role of real estate deals, which not only affect tenants and farmers, but also threaten the sustainable use and distribution of land. It will question how capitalist dynamics take over new territorial or social areas and lead to a concentration of property, wealth and power.

With Jan Brunner, Klaus Dörre (canceled), Sabine Nuss and Uwe Zöllner.
Curated and hosted by Emerson Culurgioni.
